Project Overview

The APSIDE project focuses on developing a universal asset profile standard to enable semantic interoperability across decentralized systems. By addressing interoperability challenges between decentralized ledger technologies (DLTs) and traditional IT systems, APSIDE facilitates secure and scalable asset exchanges.

The project aligns with the IETF Secure Asset Transfer Protocol (SATP) and has contributed three IETF RFCs. APSIDE’s impact includes advancing blockchain interoperability, promoting sustainable practices through Digital Product Passports, and supporting digital transformation across sectors like supply chains and cultural heritage.

Methods and approaches

Semantic Interoperability

APSIDE develops a universal asset profile standard that ensures semantic interoperability across decentralized systems, agnostic to blockchain technologies or asset types.

SATP 3-Phase Commit Protocol

APSIDE embeds semantic interoperability through gateways and the SATP 3-phase commit protocol, extending transaction processing principles to decentralized web3 systems.

IETF Collaboration

APSIDE contributes to the development of international standards by aligning its work with the IETF SATP framework and publishing IETF RFCs.

Open-Source and Community Engagement

APSIDE follows an open-source model and engages with global communities through the GitHub repository and IETF SATP working groups.

Key Achievements

Development of a Universal Asset Profile Standard

APSIDE successfully created and published three IETF RFCs outlining the asset profile standard, surpassing the initial goal of publishing just one.

Integration into the Compellio Gateway

The asset profile standard was integrated into the Compellio Gateway, enabling seamless interoperability between decentralized and traditional IT systems.

Cross-Sector Adoption

APSIDE facilitated the adoption of its standard in various industries, including supply chain transparency and cultural heritage preservation, through use cases like Digital Product Passports.

Global Dissemination

APSIDE disseminated its results through IETF working groups, academic publications, and open-source platforms, ensuring broad global reach and adoption.
