NGI Sargasso is happy to announce a new partnership with Simeon, one of our NGI Sargasso Innovators focused on empowering older adults through trusted digital credentials. This collaboration has been signed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) allowing Simeon to become a member of the NGI Sargasso InnoConnect Hub.

Both projects will provide visibility to each other’s outreach activities around efforts and contributions to ICT Standards to our extensive network of stakeholder communities and through our main digital outlets. Participation at any webinars or events of mutual interest to keep boosting digital innovation for Next Generation Internet (NGI) technologies and services across continents is also considered as part of the agreement.

By supporting projects like Simeon, NGI Sargasso is enabling practical innovations with meaningful societal impact, helping ensure that the next generation of internet technologies leaves no one behind. Outcomes of the collaboration will contribute to the broader NGI ecosystem and serve as a blueprint for inclusive digital transformation.

Simeon: Facilitating Verifiable Credentials Presentation Across Borders

Simeon, supported under the NGI Sargasso OnCampus Program, is working to make digital services more accessible and secure for seniors by developing verifiable credential solutions tailored to their needs. The project addresses a growing digital divide affecting older populations, who often face challenges in accessing digital services due to complex identity systems, privacy concerns, or a lack of digital literacy. Simeon is a result of the NGI Sargasso Innovator from our Open Call 3 FVCP: Facilitate Verifiable Credentials Presentation across borders, led by Julien Bringer, CEO at Kallistech, and partnered by Identity Woman in Business. Kallistech was previously selected in our first open call with the project D3ICA: Democratizing Decentralized Digital Identity through Cloud Agents, partnered by the Canadian organization Bluink.

This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing NGI Sargasso’s mission to strengthen EU–US–Canada cooperation on technologies that prioritize privacy, inclusivity, and human-centric design. Simeon brings together experts in identity management, user experience, and digital ethics from both sides of the Atlantic to co-create solutions that not only meet technical standards but also reflect the lived experiences of older adults.
